Kampala, Uganda: Over the weekend, Uganda’s corporate world transformed First Street in Kampala’s industrial area into a happy and nostalgic celebration during the Stanbic Bank FlexiPay-sponsored March 2026 edition of Reminisce Kadanke.

The event, ‘The Daytime Disco Edition,’ offered moments of fun and dancing as revellers relived cherished memories associated with the selection of classic R&B and soul music at Kampala’s Club Govnor.

Speaking at the event, Reminisce’s co-founder, Robert Victor Nsibirwa, said, “The Reminisce is an experiential event that brings together lovers of old-school culture to enjoy classic music while reconnecting with friends.  We call this the grown folk’s playground because it is an opportunity for our attendees to have fun, without any restrictions.”

“This edition’s theme is intentional. Many of our attendees have interesting memories of telling their parents they were going for coaching, only to sneak off to a local musical kadanke and party until evening. Now, there is no need to lie about it,” Nsibirwa said.

Hosted by Timothy Code, the organisers also billed the event as a stress-reliever and featured performances by DJ Bryan, DJ Kasbaby, DJ Cisse, and Sal Deejay. It started at 3 pm, continuing late into the night.

According to Nsibirwa, the next edition is scheduled for August 2026, with the final one planned for December.

“Reminisce began in 2021 out of a desire for an authentic old-school atmosphere and has evolved from a simple idea into a must-attend event that now runs three times a year. The good news is that it has now expanded beyond boarders,” Nsibirwa said.

To spice up the event, revellers were treated to a happy hour to enjoy significant percentage discounts on drinks, with the only condition being to transact using FlexiPay, making transactions more seamless and convenient in line with Stanbic Uganda’s mandate of driving Uganda’s growth.

Lynn Birungi, a first-time attendee, said, “My parents were very strict and cautious about school parties. But today, I feel like I have compensated for all the fun I missed back in the day.”
