For many students, university life is shaped as much by the campus environment as by the classroom. Across Africa, some institutions offer settings that are nothing short of spectacular — palm-lined entrances, mountain backdrops, cherry trees, lagoon views, and expansive green lawns.

These universities combine strong academic reputations with spaces designed to inspire creativity and connection.

From West Africa to Southern Africa, each campus has a distinct personality rooted in its geography and heritage. According to Times Higher Education, University of Cape Town, South Africa, ranks first on the list.

Here are ten African universities where the scenery is just as memorable as the education:
