By Gautam Karve, Editor-in-Chief, World Media Organization.

29th August 2026 – Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov recently held a video conference with South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Parks Tau to discuss strengthening bilateral economic relations.

A key focus was the upcoming business mission of Uzbek companies to South Africa. Around 50 Uzbek enterprises are expected to travel to Johannesburg in autumn 2026 to participate in targeted business-to-business meetings with South African companies and explore new opportunities for trade and investment.

According to information available online, Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with seven African countries during 2025 and 2026. This growing diplomatic outreach could provide a stronger foundation for expanding economic and commercial ties with African nations.

Editorial message by Gautam Karve, Editor-in-Chief, World Media Organization, “Uzbekistan is not alone in recognizing Africa’s growing economic potential. Countries from Asia, Europe, the Middle East and other regions are increasingly looking toward African markets for trade, investment, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, agriculture and technology opportunities. Africa’s large population, natural resources, emerging industries and expanding consumer markets make the continent increasingly important to the global economy. Africa is expected to play an increasingly important role in global trade and investment in the coming decades.”

World Media Organization believes Africa will play an increasingly important role in global trade and investment, and Uzbekistan’s growing engagement is another indication of the continent’s rising economic importance.
